Héctor Serrano: The journey in between. 25 years connecting.

The Design Center hosts the exhibition “Héctor Serrano: The Journey in Between. 25 Years Connecting”, curated by the journalist specializing in design, Tachy Mora, and promoted by DIMAD. A retrospective of the career of this exceptional creator, who was recently awarded the National Design Award 2024.
The exhibition compiles a selection of his most significant works in multiple fields, offering an overview of the different creative paths he travels through and the results he achieves with his peculiar vision.

The exhibition “Héctor Serrano: The Journey in Between. 25 Years Connecting” seeks to convey what his approach and design processes consist of, in which the journey between the starting point and the result is of great relevance, and where what he calls “the unexpected ingredient” often intervenes: that spark that characterizes his proposals and that can appeal to the user in a fun and creative way immediately, or manifest itself in a not so obvious way in terms of innovation, research or sustainability.

“Roots” Project
For this exhibition, Héctor Serrano has purposely conceived the solidarity project “Roots”.
A project aimed at raising funds for the victims of the damage that devastated 85 municipalities in Valencia on October 29, 2024, leaving the beaches completely cluttered with trees, trunks, roots, reeds and plant waste that transmit in an overwhelming way the force that the water carried.
Héctor Serrano has collected 85 roots found on beaches to turn them into flower vases, both to house plant elements and to place cuttings that are later transplanted to the ground. Each vase represents one of the affected localities, with which funds will be raised to help the reconstruction of the area and to the victims who are struggling to recover their roots. This project, in turn, reveals the poetics with which he also approaches his designs on certain occasions.
“Héctor Serrano: The Journey in Between. 25 Years Connecting” is an exhibition that is part of the Madrid Design Festival 2025 program.
